Hezekiah Anthony Dyer

Rhode Island, 1872-1943

Ca. 1900-1920. Watercolor and guoache on paper. Dyer, placed by the leading critical authorities among the

ablest exponents of landscape art, is known for his emimence among American artists. After graduating

from Brown University in 1894 he pursued art study in France, Holland and Italy, making landscape painting

his field of endeavor. He is universally regarded as a representative American watercolor painter of landscape

subjects with a penchant for mountain and village scenes. He was president of the Providence Watercolor

Club and from 1904-1914 president of the Providence Art Club, as well as a member of the Boston

Watercolor Society and the Boston Art Club. He was a well known lecturer throughtout the east and

was honored with a degree of A.M. from Brown University in 1919. Newly matted and framed.
